It’s all in the mission – Community Racing, Inc.

Community Racing, Inc., a non-profit based out of the old Lewis Bay Boathouse in Yarmouth, is focused on enabling access to the water. For the past few years, they have been focused on preserving the boathouse, as it is pivotal to enabling on-the-water education. The convenient access to the water serves as a perfect home for sailing and rowing programs.

Since 2021, Community Racing, Inc. has generously allowed the Cape Cod Maritime Museum the use of Lewis Bay Boathouse for their rowing program. It’s easy access to the boat ramp at Englewood Beach is perfect for launching the rowing gigs and other rowing vessels. CCMM would like to thank Community Racing, Inc. for their generosity – this has enabled successful growth of the program and has provided access to rowing for many new and veteran rowers!

Community Racing, Inc. is committed to the restoration of the Lewis Bay Boathouse – and EVENTIDE, the iconic 29’ catboat that sailed for years as a charter boat out of Hyannis Harbor. Many remember the vessel for her large tabby cat logo on her sail. Built in 1933 by George Shiverick of Kingston, MA, EVENTIDE is a perfect reminder of another time in the history of the Cape’s maritime heritage. Currently, EVENTIDE is in Maine, being restored by expert shipwright David Stimson. Cape Cod Maritime Museum expresses their gratitude to Community Racing, Inc., and the best of luck towards the restoration of EVENTIDE!
